JULY-AUGUST 2018 – ON HOLIDAYS
Interview: Anna Brunetto talks about the laser techniques applied to the descialbo in the Sala delle Asse
FEBRUARY – MAY 2018
State of descialbo: in 2015, on the south-west wall, surprisingly and thanks to the fine work of the restorers have emerged traces of design below the layers of scialbo laid down over the centuries.
Trees, buildings and hills slowly emerged … elements of a Lombard landscape maybe?
The technical ability of the restorers and the use of laser allow an extremely selective removal of the successive layers of painting, freeing the late 15th century plaster on which charcoal and brush lines make up an unexpected design.
The removal of the layers of paint by laser technique is a long and complex operation, which requires a lot of skill, patience and precision … but it allows to obtain extraordinary results, preserving the ancient layers.
